Selecting an
Exterior Wall

Basic Wall System Selection - Exterior Wall
Elevation refers to the name given to this elevation.
Wall Type defines whether it is an interor or exterior
wall, and the load bearing requirements.
Area creates a square footage for the wall.
Fire Rating refers to how long a wall must remain intact in a
fire.
Exterior Layer
Type refers to the product type based on the
selections made at the top of the page.
Size is the different thicknesses of the layer
that is being applied
Insulation Size determines how many sheets of
exterior layer we will need. Divide the size of the materials by
the insulation to determine how many sheets to use. 1" insulation and
1/2" sheets would require 2 sheets to provide the 1" of
insulation.
Wrap Layer
Wrap refers to the material used between the inner
sheathing layer and the exterior layer.
Sheathing Layer
Product refers to the products available for the
sheathing layer that covers the studs and insulation on the outside of the
wall.
Structural Stud
Layer
Stud Type refers to the materials the stud should
be made of.
Size refers to the size of the stud to be placed
in the wall.
Insulation refers to the insulation that is
applied in between the studs.
Interior Layer
Select the Type of interior to narrow the product dropdown.
Fireguard or moisture barrier selections
will narrow the product list.
Size refers to the sheet size or thickness for the
interior layer.
Product shows all the products that meet the
selected requirements for the interior layer.
Layers allows for multiple layers to be
applied.
Wall Texture and
Finish
Wall Texture refers to the surface texture, flat,
troweled, swirl or other.
Check the radial box for finish such as flat, semi-gloss or
full gloss
Finish refers to the specific color for the
interior wall.
Search allows a color template to be viewed to
select a color range to show under finish to narrow the color
options.
